Storyland podcast, produced by Storyland Research Center for Children’s Books (SRCCB), hosts interviews with children’s book authors and illustrators from all over the world. We are the first and only platform in China through which readers can directly hear from book creators about their stories.

Jeanne Willis, a very prolific British author, with over 400 books published.

Jeanne’s books are known for surprising, humorous twist, thus very unforgetable. Apart from being an author, Jeanne is also a very interesting person, she had her wedding in London Zoo and her studio is like a mini Insect Garden. We had this conversation at her attic which is also her home studio in North London.

In this episode, Jeanne talked about her souces of inspiration,her favorite picture book Tadpole’s Promise,how has being a copywriter influenced her writing style, her advice on writing, etc.

Ma Penghao: A Chinese original picture book creator and the head of Game Drawing Studio. Ma graduated from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. His representative works include Grandma Peach Blossom Fish, The White Deer Chronicles, and the A Little Philosophical Series of Picture Books,etc. He enjoys themes such as plants and fantasy involving mythical creatures.

Nadine is a Syrian-born author and illustrator, best known for her picture books that explore themes of displacement, identity, and resilience, often focusing on the experiences of Syrian refugees. Her works aim to raise awareness about the struggles faced by displaced children and families, while also celebrating their strength and hope.
